They had talked about it in passing; it was more a joke than anything else. They laughed about how they grew up in Beacon Hills, and it seemed that no matter what the people saw, they would never believe it.
There was nothing slow about it. One night they went to bed happy, with no troubles on the horizon, but they woke up to what seemed like the end of the world. They never learned the guy’s name, but they all heard the story. It was worse than the squirmish they had with the would-be hunters; this was government-sanctioned genocide. They were pulling werefamilies out of their homes and loading them up in the back of big black trucks. Those people were never seen again, and there was little to no outrage from the populace.

Summary
Being the only human surrounded by supernatural creatures was a blessing- sometimes, Stiles wished he could say most of the time, and being sick and none of your friends understanding what it felt like was the worst part of being surrounded by wolves. Derek had yet to leave his side. He was pressing damp clothes to his head, pulling his pain, and making sure he ate. Stiles basked in the care.
