Summary
Suddenly there was a weak knock at his door, so quiet that he almost didn't notice. Clive had been so lost in his mind that it startled him. Sitting upright in his bed, he wondered who wished to see him this late even when he already knew who was standing in front of the door. He would always know, no matter what. The feeling of the flames growing stronger within him was a dead hint, but that sensation paled compared to the warmth that filled his heart when he sensed the familiar presence outside.

“Finally awake, sleepyhead?” A weak voice croaked somewhere close to him. Joshua's eyes snapped open at the sound of the familiar voice he could always recognise.
Joshua jolted into a sitting position, the name of the voice's owner falling from his lips. “Clive!”

Summary
Heavy pants fell from his mouth, the air he inhaled dry and hot. His throat was raspy and parched from the lack of water in the atmosphere. All of it was long gone ever since the first flames roared to life, turning the already burning castle into an even deadlier trap.
Debris was strewn across the area, dead bodies of former comrades and enemies alike buried underneath them, swallowed by the raging fires without discrimination as they were burned to nothing but ashes.
Clive had no idea how everything turned out like this. He still remembered the laughter and the cheers from the large dining chamber even though he wasn't present himself, not a fan of such gatherings. The singing was loud enough for him to hear outside, albeit he preferred to have a clear mind for his duty as the first shield of Joshua never ended.

Summary
A bright light flashed across the horizon before a deep rumble rolled over the land, ripping Clive from his deep slumber with a gasp. Heavy rain splattered against the window of his room, another light flashing outside, instantly followed by the sound of lighting.
A thunderstorm was raging outside and Clive couldn't remember that he had experienced one as bad as this one ever before. The wind howled outside like a ferocious beast and the thunder rumbled, almost as if Garuda and Ramuth were fighting each other outside.

Summary
“Clive,” Joshua's voice sounded across the training ground again, uncertainty lingering in his gentle tune. Clive realised his baby brother didn't know if it was good or bad that the training was over, too young to comprehend all the things happening around him.
Clive mustered the best toothy smile he could and gave Joshua a thumbs up. “Don't worry Joshua! Everything is fine. I'm just exhausted.”
His motions must have done the trick, because Joshua beamed at him, nodding eagerly. His brother then turned to their father, saying something Clive couldn't hear. Seeing how excited Joshua was, he doubted it was anything bad.

Clive felt restless, his heart beating twice as fast inside his chest. He felt how every beat pounded against his ribs with extreme force, making his chest ache. He had no idea what was happening, but the one thing he could tell was that something was wrong.

Summary
“Hey Clive, can you hear me?” Someone asked, but he had no idea to whom the voice belonged. It was familiar without a doubt, invoking a sense of trust and warmth, yet his mind felt fuzzy and refused to connect the voice to a face,
Clive only groaned in response, the only sound he was capable of producing at the moment. From somewhere he heard a low whine, another noise that he was awfully accustomed to, but the owner remained a mystery to him. He could only tell that at least two different people were around him.
He felt like he was hit by a rampaging Behemoth because his whole body was aching like hell, so maybe the fuzziness of his brain came from that? Maybe, but that rose the question of what madness drove him to face a Behemoth in the first place. Whatever the reason, it didn't go well from what he could grasp.

Summary
“My young Lord Rosfield, the labour pains of your mother have started.”
Nothing more was said from her, but to him, it was more than enough. The quill between his fingers slipped from his grasp as he looked utterly shocked at the maid, her words echoing inside his mind over and over again. His jaw came loose at the message, his eyes frantically searching the woman's face to see if what she said was really the truth. Clive found nothing but honesty in her expression.
For nine months he had waited for this moment and now the time finally came. His younger sibling would be born soon.

Summary
“That!” A small Joshua exclaimed with an excited giggle while he pointed at yet another toy lying on the floor in his room, seemingly having lost interest in the wooden soldier he was currently holding in his tiny hands. Clive observed his little brother's antics with a bright smile, aware that he couldn't blame Joshua. Chocobos were the best after all, no matter if they were a mere toy or the real deal.

Summary
“Let me ask you again, Clive. What is wrong with you today? It's not like you these days to be so unaware of your surroundings during your training,” the man offered while he took a seat on the floor as well.
There was no point continuing the practice until Clive was able to focus again. He didn't mind being rough with Clive when it meant the boy survived the fights of the future, but in the end, this was still training. He had no intention of inflicting serious injuries on his student. Not only would Elwin have his head for that, but he would never be able to forgive himself if something happened to Clive under his watch.
Patiently, he waited for Clive to open up about what was bothering him, but the teen remained silent, merely looking to the side, unable to meet his searching gaze. Murdoch sighed about the boy's refusal to talk which left him with only one option. He would have to guess his way through until he found the reason for Clive's distraction, albeit he was pretty sure he had already a good idea of what was on the boy's mind.
“Is this about Joshua's upcoming birthday?”
