Summary
There’s a surreal quality to the time between one and four in the morning that always has Namjoon questioning what’s real. Stuck behind the counter at the convenience store, bathed in neon light, Namjoon’s mind can’t always tell dream from reality. So when Yoongi, mysterious and quiet, shows up every few nights with bloody knuckles and bruised lips, Namjoon wonders if he’s a hallucination. And while he’s seen Yoongi only in the dark, lit only by the worn bulb of the back steps or the glow from his lighter, Namjoon can’t help but find him beautiful.
-OR-
Yoongi is always hurt, and Namjoon just wants to help him heal.

Summary
It is too familiar, this moment. Too reminiscent of nights on the back steps of the convenience store. Too reminiscent of last week, when Namjoon brought Yoongi here to his home. Blood on Yoongi’s face, in his mouth. He looks so small, sitting curled in on himself as Namjoon dabs gently at his lip to clean the wound.
How many times has Namjoon done this? Too many, even once is too much. He hoped that the prior week would be the last. That he wouldn’t have to see blood on Yoongi again. It doesn’t look right against his pale complexion. It’s jarring, like spilled ink on a pristine canvas.
Namjoon sits back on his heels and assesses Yoongi before him. “I wish I didn’t have to keep doing this.”
“This is the last time you’ll have to,” Yoongi murmurs, his voice a little wet, ragged around the edges. “I promise.”
-OR-
Namjoon feels like he is like an open book. Pages spread and laid bare, all of him out in the open. But Yoongi is more like a mysterious secret diary, locked up tight. Impenetrable without the key, only the cover visible, the edges of the pages. And Namjoon doesn’t want to force it.
