Summary
Samuel Vimes, arguably the most worn-in watchman of them all, second only to his boots, could not quite bring himself to enjoy this weather either. Normally, he was the kind of man who genuinely thrived in even the most torrential of rain; it altered his senses and sharpened his focus, but as has been mentioned, this was not the normal torrent of rain. It was, Vimes imagined, the closest thing you could get to experiencing what it was like to stand underneath the waterfall of the Disc without having to die first in order to do so.
After a trying shift and a rainy night that even the most experienced of watchmen avoided, Sam Vimes seeks some much-needed company.

Summary
Vetinari, who was currently getting some air on deck, seemed to be perfectly content on the uneven waters, as was irritatingly typical of the man. Even after nigh on thirty years of knowing the Patrician, the past six of them spent as his husband no less, Vimes still managed to feel a stab of annoyance towards the ease at which Vetinari acquired complex skills with limited training, such as travelling by boat.
After a slight derail of travel plans in the form of several landslides following the conclusion of a diplomatic-turned-criminal-investigation trip to Überwald, Samuel Vimes finds himself celebrating his wedding anniversary on a riverboat.

Summary
Samuel Vimes found himself in the midst of a long dinner, pondering where it was, he had gone wrong in life, forced into celebrating some no doubt idiotic anniversary of an old war whereby far less blood would’ve been needlessly spilt and fewer lives lost, if people, usually men bearing more than a passing resemblance to Lord Rust, hadn’t just spared a passing glance for their lost brain cells and common decency.
Samuel Vimes, forced into attending a society dinner, discovers that crime never stays away for long. And what is a terrier to do other than protect his master when it all becomes a little too explosive?

Summary
They say that at the end of a rainbow is a pot of gold, carefully guarded by a leprechaun, mysteriously vanishing when the rainbow has finished with its shift for the day. Rather like pots of gold at the end of a rainbow being a million-to-one chance, the chance of Samuel Vimes going on holiday for a day, let alone a week, without being interrupted by crime, underground conspiracies, or waylaid carriages, has about as much chance as a pot of gold being found at the end of a rainbow. But this is the Discworld, and with narrativity being what it is…
Samuel Vimes and the Patrician, against all odds, manage to have a long weekend to themselves in Quirm. Domesticity ensues.
