Summary
When he was sixteen years old, Kento Nanami probably nearly died. Yu Haibara would have definitely died, but Kento Nanami was probably going to die, too. In fact, even after he was saved, he nearly died multiple times, which taught him the biggest lesson of his life: it will never not be dangerous to feel sympathy for a crazy person. Unfortunately, before he even fully has a chance to move past that, he is suddenly confronted via that same crazy person that he really, really does not like sorcerers, and it has nothing to do with them being crazy, and everything to do with them being cruel.
Or: Naoya Zenin is saddled with keeping his little sister with a technique that gives her a suicidal god complex under lock and key. This, of course, does not work, because he has negative interest in doing that. And he continues to have no interest in that, until tragedy strikes, and he realizes that suicidal god complex little sister is perhaps the only one that would call it a tragedy in a way he can hear.
Sometimes, grief is grief. And sometimes, grief is everything but grief. And sometimes, if you want to be heard, you need to listen first.

Summary
Nine years after the death of Natsuha Zenin, Hisei Zenin is of the belief that he is remarkably well-adjusted as a Zenin refugee. Look, his older cousin went and became an assassin and got himself killed. Hisei, in contrast, is working as a proper and upstanding sorcerer with no speeding tickets and no overarching issues and no internal bleeding well over 50% of the time.
Kento Nanami has a problem. His problem in that no matter how much he absolutely despises these absolutely psychopathic sorcerers, the crazier a sorcerer acts, the more he feels an itch telling him, "I can fix him." No sane person should be trying to fix a Zenin runaway with daddy and mommy issues a mile wide, much less with a technique that intentionally gives him brain damage, because it wouldn't work without completely screwing up the risk assessment parts of his brain. And, yet, Kento, actively losing his sanity card, will get a vegetable shoved down this brainless idiot of an accidental husband's throat if it kills him.
Naoya Zenin is such a big fan of divorce. Naoya Zenin loves divorce. Naoya Zenin would like it if his nightmare of a little brother loved it, too.
