Summary
Mike hesitated at the bottom of the stairs, his gaze fixed on the nest. It looked wrong, all empty and still. He remembered how Will would look, curled up inside, just the top of his head visible, his breathing slow and even.
"It's okay," Dustin said, clapping him on the shoulder. "He wouldn't mind. She needs somewhere safe."
Mike nodded, though he wasn't convinced. Will would mind. The nest was private, a sacred space. But what choice did they have?
Or: Will learns how to build nests in the places he feels safe. But when he comes back from the Upside Down, he finds they're not the same anymore.

Summary
“Get out,” he snarled, the words barely recognizable as his own.
Mike froze, one hand hovering over the blankets. His face went pale, shock and hurt flashing in his eyes. The sweet coffee-and-chocolate in his scent withered, like the warmth had been stripped out of it.
“Will…?”
Or: Rain fight and castle Byers destruction but make it omega verse.

Summary
"Will, please," he said, his voice softer now. "Don't do this. Don't go without letting me fix us."
"There's nothing to fix," Will replied, but his voice wavered slightly.
"Yes, there is," Mike insisted. "You're my best friend. You've always been my best friend." He swallowed hard, feeling vulnerable in a way he hated. "I don't know how to... be without you."
Will stopped moving, his back still turned to Mike. For a moment, the only sound was the ticking of a clock on the wall.
"I think," Will said finally, so quietly Mike almost missed it, "that maybe you'll have to learn."
Or: Mike tries to fix things between them when he learns about the Byers moving to California, turns out some things aren't so easy to mend. When they're gone he realizes just how much Will means to him.
