Summary
Macbeth has been told his fate by the Witches on his way home from the end of the battle defending the King of Scotland (Duncan). He has written his wife (Lady Macbeth) a letter and they discuss it when Macbeth returns home. However, they disagree on the terms of how he will fulfill the prophecy provided by the Witches.
