What are the secrets of this world? What do I really want from life?
First part of my ongoing project "Book of Hunters", in which I reimagine the entire events of all of Hunter x Hunter. Starts as a mostly faithful novelisation of the events described in the manga and the two anime adaptations, but slowly evolves into its own story that is more inspired by the original medium rather than adapting it.

A few nights before the auction, Kurapika accidentally runs into Shalnark at the bar. Bearing a resemblance to Pairo, Kurapika uncharacteristically loosens up and gets drunk talking to him. Initially uninterested, Shalnark begins to put down his phone and focus on this weird diversion.
