Summary
Bill Murray is an aging actor who flies to Japan to make a commercial in the 2003 movie "Lost in Translation" and reflects on his own life while in a culture and language foreign to him. The final scene involves him whispering something unheard to Scarlett Johansson; the movie title begs to play a game with it. I don't own these characters or a Babel Fish.

Sometimes being lost in unfamiliar territory isn't a bad thing. Sometimes being lost on familiar ground is. I was unsatisfied with the original ending, so I've extended it with another snapshot.

It's always been easy for Natasha to become someone else entirely.
For this prompt at avengerkink:
So there are lots of prompts where all the Jeremy Renner roles are Hawkeye. . . I wanna see all the Scarlett Johansson roles being secretly Black Widow undercover ops. Was her target in Lost in Translation Bill Murray or Giovanni Ribisi? What kind of underworld dealings could either of those characters be involved in, as a washed-up actor and a celebrity photographer respectively? How much of the work she did in The Nanny Diaries translated to her later assignment of evaluating and babysitting Tony? You don't have to use those particular movies, but I think it could be hilarious to see how ScarJo's roles (which are more drama/romance/comedy than the action roles Renner has mostly gotten) might have secretly been Black Widow ops either pre- or post-S.H.I.E.L.D. recruitment. A trillion bonus points if you even work in The Other Boleyn Girl -- maybe post-Avengers somehow Tony/Bruce/Reed Richards if you like accidentally send Natasha and Jane back in time? -

Summary
There was a man at the bar with clips on his back and the girl sitting behind him laughed, which surprised her because she'd forgotten what that sounded like. It was like the faint rumbling of distant thunder, short and sudden and far between.
