In 2010, LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch gets entangled with a figure from his past, one who he was close enough to name him the godfather of his daughter Maddie. Jamie Thornwell, still reeling from the death of his wife, will lead him from a simple murder to an art case with wide implications, one that Harry isn’t sure of all of the players in the Great Game.

Summary
“I think that when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their public duties, they lead their country by a short route to chaos." - Sir Thomas More, A Man For All Seasons.
Or do they?
Kim Burgess, still wrestling with decisions—decisions about a possible side job, decisions about her relationship with Adam Ruzek, and about what’s best for her daughter Makayla, is drawn into a case of a violent assault on a young woman, that turns into a conspiracy that spans two cities and thirty years, starting on the other side of the world.
Adam Ruzek is struggling with questions of his own, especially after reeling from the betrayal of another father figure/mentor in Sal Ortiz.
Along the way, they will find new allies, new friends, and new adversaries. Kim will find a possible new way of raising a child, one that could work with whatever form her relationship takes with Adam. Adam will be exposed to a mentor who might show him that you can still have a code of honor, of right and wrong, without crossing lines you can’t uncross.
All while fighting for the original victim.

Summary
A Hawk Novella. When Spenser is out of town on an extended trip to the Far East, it's up to Boston's number one enforcer to take up the slack. Rita Fiore, once one of the Commonwealth's fiercest prosecutors, is now in private practice and enjoying the rewards of her labors as a senior partner in one of Boston's most prestigious law firms. And life couldn't be grander. At least that's the case until two men try to grab her one morning while she's out for a jog. They don't succeed, but when word reaches Hawk, he makes it his personal mission to protect her and find out who was behind the attack. Soon both he and the police realize that there's more going on than they know, and more than Rita is willing to tell. As the body count adds up and the cops become increasingly frustrated, the only person Rita can trust with the truth is a man she has known for years but barely knows at all. For Hawk it's a lot less complicated, and nothing that he can't resolve with a long barreled .44...
