There was a strict pecking order in Strade’s household, and unfortunately, I’m located at the very bottom. Barely above the basement spiders and occasional pests that were inevitably attracted to any residual blood in the basement. Strade always tried to make sure it was as clean upstairs as possible by forcing me and Ren to do most of the cleaning. It was annoying at first, having to limp around the house like some sort of maid, but it was better than the alternative . . .
