Rocky. I can’t put this all on the guy right now. He should be happy. We are going to Erid. We are going to save his planet.
“CBC. A complete blood count.” I answer, hoping he doesn’t ask me why.
“Purpose, question?”
Rocky, please. I’m trying to spare you right now.
Basically, Grace gets exposed to a dangerous amount of radiation during an EVA and doesn't want to tell Rocky bc of what happened to Rocky's crew <3
THIS IS A REWORKED VERSION OF "TEMPEST" - after some comments, I wanted to keep the soul of the story, but make it more scientifically plausible. While there are still probably some inaccuracies, I still hope this isn't as messy as before.

Summary
Colt, for the most part, avoided telling him about how dangerous so many of his stunts were, because he knew Ryland better than Ryland knew himself and he knew that he didn’t like that Colt was put in those kinds of situations. The only way he really knew was when Colt made it back to the apartment after a movie had wrapped to see scabbing scrapes and stitches and on one memorable occasion a broken arm that Colt had sulked about the entire time he had it in a cast.
So a hospital calling about him meant it had to be serious.

The road to recovery is long and hard, but Ryland is dragging his brother along and he doesn't get a say in the matter.

Summary
The adrenaline wears off faster than Colt would have liked it to. Though he knew the crash was coming, he would have preferred it hold off until he and Jody could at least make it back to the hotel. He’d been having thoughts of a mattress that would welcome the shape of him, soft sheets and pillows that would aid in the bouts of pain that were sure to accompany days of strenuous movement and activity. He’d thought he’d maybe at least get to catch some of the sleep that had been eluding him since he’d touched down in Sydney.
As luck would have it, Colt only makes it back to Jody’s trailer before he feels the familiar burn at the base of his spine.

Stars danced across his vision, blurred and smudged like wet paint, broken glasses pressed uncomfortably against his face. He tried to gasp for air, but it was like his lungs just couldn’t inflate. He was winded, he vaguely understood, but he couldn’t think straight past the panic that pumped through his veins.
Every attempt at breath felt like knives in his body, electricity shooting across his clavicle, pinpricks scattered his face, lightning down his spine. His body had never felt heavier, like the atmosphere had gotten denser, his limbs chained down.
Flame burned in the distance, catching the corner of his vision. That couldn’t be good.
or; Grace was just a little bit closer to the explosion at the space facility and ruins Stratt's backup plan.
