Summary
In the noble, slightly dusty year of 1976, a particularly ambitious Unspeakable decided that what the wizarding world truly needed—was a machine that could scan your magic and access public records (time is not a factor). You know, like a magical Google search but without the cookies (unless you count the existential crisis that follows as one).
Naturally, they brought it to Hogwarts, because what better testing ground than a castle full of hormonal teenagers and repressed trauma?
One completely random (read: fated, dramatic, and so not ready for this)student was selected. The machine did its thing—beeped, pulsed, probably hummed ominously—and spat out a dazzling little projection from the future: the student was a magical analyst who, in a live interview aired on the public network, casually mentioned that the Potter family—yes, those Potters—weren’t just a bunch of well-to-do nueva Rich Purebloods with messy hair and Potion mastery. Oh no. They were an international conglomerate that had been silently running magical industries since the 12th century.
Cue the collective jaw drop of Wizarding Britain.
