You didn’t want to wake up tomorrow. You wished you hadn’t woken up today.
Your tiny apartment was thoroughly engulfed in the scent of old air, despair, and blood. The lights in it had been barely ever turned on and the blinds haven’t been open in months upon months.
And you just couldn’t do it anymore.
Years and years did nothing but solidify the idea that it didn’t matter if you stayed. At this point, living hurt.
So you knew what you had to do. You were going to end it all tomorrow.

Summary
Soulmates are supposed to be a blessing—the other half of your soul, your truest match, the heart that beats in cadence with your own. In order to help those with this blessing find their soulmates, at age eighteen you begin to dream their dreams, and they yours. You grew up being told it was romantic.
But your soulmate, in particular, is naught but a curse. For years you've dreamed almost every night of eating someone dear to you, repeatedly, in graphic detail; for years you've felt their pain and horror. As a result, you've become nigh-incapable of sleeping, and the long term sleep deprivation and trauma has long since taken its toll on your life, your behavior, and your personality.
...At least, you can only cling onto hope that this isn't you. You can only cling onto hope that someday soon you'll be able to touch your soulmate and get your own dreams back.
When a mysterious circus comes into town and you defend a clown hiding many mysteries of his own behind the mask on his face, you're dragged into the world of your nightmares—but perhaps there's a better dream at the end of it all, if you can only keep your eyes and heart open...
