    Tobirama didn’t expect he could ever come to regret killing Izuna. He had spent months creating the hiraishin just for that. How many hours studying fuuinjutsu and physics just so he could create a perfect jutsu that not even a sharingan as advanced as Izuna’s could pick it up? How many injuries were sustained so he could train his body to use it?

    In the end, he did it because it was necessary. Because one of them would kill the other, that’s how it would always end for them.

    Who would understand that it's not so easy to let go of living your life in ever-present readiness to fight, to kill?

    [despite this vague summary this is actually very much a fix-it for the Founder's era. Izuna lives. The Shinobi Wars sort of don't happen. Sort of. Everyone lives. Hashimada is canon. Couple of OCs kicking around to fill the background.]
