Summary
Sephiroth wakes as morning light streams into his tent, diffused by the fabric and casting muddy shadows. He sits up to stretch--and immediately falls back down as a stabbing pain shoots through his right shoulder.
It’s been bothering him for days now, but he simply chalked it up to sleeping weirdly, nevermind the fact that he sleeps in the same position every night and never tosses or turns. But now the pain is much worse, and no longer only internal, as the skin over his shoulder blade burns where it touches the fabric beneath him.

Or, Sephiroth never goes insane and burns down Nibelheim. He gets his wing anyway.

Minimus’ uneventful and peaceful day was interrupted, as it often is, by a frantic call from Rodimus.
“Rodimus, what-” His sentence was immediately cut off by loud yelling and unintelligible shouting, hurting his audio receptors. “Rodimus, slow down, I can’t understand you.”
“This planet’s trying to kill me!”
“Sorry, what? What exactly is trying to kill you?”
“The planet! It’s sentient and it hates me!”
