Summary
Hiccup doesn’t go after Astrid. He decides her mind can’t be changed, and the whole village has always hated him, so why bother? So he frees the other dragons and flees, believing Astrid will spread the tale of his insanity like wildfire. Whether she does or not is a mystery to him, because he doesn’t stick around to find out.
Along his travels, he is called a demon, hailed as a savior, known as a friend, and found again as a son. Something will always call him back to Berk though. Danger, probably. It’s an occupational hazard, not just of a Viking.
! BEING REWRITTEN ! I started this story back in highschool, and my writing has gotten a lot better since then IMO. To be honest, the first few chapters of this were written in my notes app on my phone while ignoring my classwork, as I didn't have a personal laptop. I have different ideas for the story now, but the core of the idea largely remain the same. Chapter one of the rewritten version is posted.

Summary
Hiccup successfully leaves before it's ever announced who gets the "honor" of killing the Monsterous Nightmare. He leaves the night his father returns, instead, overwhelmed by the future ahead of him if he doesn't. It's either he abandons Toothless or betrays his tribe. He made a decision, one he can't go back from.
Astrid sees him leave, or at least, she sees Toothless leave. The only thing she can assume happened? Hiccup really did shoot down that Nightfury, found it in a distant meadow, and got killed before he could kill it, and before Astrid could save him.
Stoick takes the news poorly. He doesn't blame Astrid, no, but he withdrawals into his depression. He remembers his son as someone determined, striving towards their villages goals despite his weaknesses, and the funeral they have for him emphasizes this without ever knowing the truth.
In a distant land, a lonely mother wonders what her son was like now.
A volcano rumbles in the distance. A man waits for his day of reckoning.

Summary
When a dragon nears the end of their life they fly to Vanaheim for their final resting place- but there are occasions when a dragon is no longer able to fly themselves, and exceptions can be made.
One morning on New Berk an alarmed outcry rings through the village as a large dragon made entirely of stone sits opposite the Elder Haddocks' home, staring at the door in wait. It doesn't harm anybody, doesn't so much as breathe- and then Elder Hiccup Haddock emerges from the home, and the dragon becomes alert. Hiccup greets the dragon with a quiet acceptance, when the other village elders feel everything but.

Summary
Winter has broken. The Red Death is dead. Berk is host to dragons large and small, and the peace, though fragile, is holding. Hiccup is getting used to his new leg, and Toothless is getting used to walking the village openly. Elsewhere in the archipelago, other Viking tribes are beginning to notice that their Spring has been unusually dragon-free.
On the horizon, a small fishing vessel limps toward Berk's port.
Trouble is brewing, and not of the sort that anyone expects.

Summary
How To Train Your Dragon AU: Valka and Hiccup were both taken the night of the raid. Hiccup is raised in a dragon nest alongside Toothless. Epic adventure and friendship ensue.
"The little dragon crooned softly, pupils dilating as he nuzzled against Hiccup's cheek. My son giggled, reaching his arms up over his head as he attempted to pet the Night Fury. I simply sat back and stared in amazement at their interaction. The hatchling took one of Hiccup's arms in his mouth, chewing softly. I gasped, jumping forward to push him away, only to notice that the dragon had no teeth. "What the...toothless?" I murmured in confusion. I could've sworn the other baby dragon had teeth. This one tilted his head, glancing up at me with an expression that read, 'you seriously thought I was gonna bite him?' I relaxed with a chuckle, letting him do as he pleased. If anything, Hiccup was enjoying the hatchling's attention, and kicked his legs happily. "Well, Toothless, meet my son, Hiccup," I introduced with a grin."
