Summary
Wemmbu makes a choice he’s never been good at making: he listens.
After an impersonator forces his hand, he follows Eggchan’s advice, changing his armor trims and voicechanger to assume a new identity. Now, with a different anchor, Wemmbu refocuses on a quieter goal: get Eggchan out of the End, disappear, and build something that can’t be taken away from them. Together, they create new identities and a hidden home; thus, peace is finally earned.
But choices, like stones cast into a river, only ever disturb the surface. The current keeps moving; the river stays the same. No matter how carefully Wemmbu changes his path, trouble still knows where to find him.
It’s only a matter of when.

Wemmbu runs away with Eggchan. Doesn’t he know devotion like that attracts jealous eyes?

He feels the man’s muscles tense against his fingers. Even so, he still doesn’t turn around or beg for Gi-hun to let go of him. And when he finally does answer, his voice is calm, if a little faint. “Gi-hun, it’s me.”
He knows this voice.
“Young-il?”
A shaky nod is his only response.

Gi-hun smiles, warm and open, like he doesn’t notice the suspicion and frustration that undoubtedly stain In-ho’s voice. “That’s exactly why I want to help you, because no one was there for me.”
So Gi-hun does still believe in other people. That’s disappointing. Perhaps In-ho does have a purpose in this relationship, after all. Maybe his role is to show Gi-hun that other people are not worth looking out for. He can’t deny that he finds the idea attractive. To pull Gi-hun back to earth and crush his faith in people the way In-ho’s was.
