Song Lan stood beside Xiao Xingchen with a perplexed expression. “Candy? You’ve never been partial to sweets before.”
“Mn, for Xue Yang. He has a sweet tooth,” Xiao Xingchen explained. He gratefully listened to the shop owner’s suggestions and decided on a bag of variety flavors. After he found out which was Xue Yang’s favorite, he could buy more of the flavor in the future.
“How do you know he has a sweet tooth?” Song Lan couldn’t help but pry, feeling a little uneasy at the sign of Xiao Xingchen wanting to coddle the omega. In fact, it was only one of many concerning things he had witnessed since Xue Yang came along. Xiao Xingchen may not have been aware yet, or maybe he was lying to himself, but Song Lan could open a textbook on alpha behavior and count the signs on his fingers.

The third time Xuē Yáng wakes up, Xīngchén had died three times. Three times! But it's fine. He's alive again. And this time Xuē Yáng would keep him that way, forever and ever. He just had to work out how.
