Summary
With Gerard as Captain, Buck and Eddie decide to keep their budding relationship on the down low. Especially after the way the man had singled Buck out when his relationship with Tommy had ended two months before. Now a month later, Gerard is still at the 118 with no sign of Bobby returning anytime soon. The Captain of the 118 tries to force Buck and Eddie into searching through a crumbling museum during a five-alarm fire, when both were trying to leave early to head down to El Paso to get Christopher back. When they refuse to search, Gerard goes on the attack and Buck and Eddie hit an artifact that takes their heart's desire into account and throws them back in time to the day they met.

The teenager shuffled forward. "I'm looking for Edmundo, Edmundo Diaz? He works here."
Hearing his name, Eddie's brow furrowed. He stepped closer. At first, he didn't recognize the face. The sharp shape of the jaw, the curve of the mouth… then it clicked.
"Rachel?" He called, a question laced with surprise.
The teenager straightened, "I go by Raphael now."***
Eddie gets an unexpected visitor one day on shift, it’s his little cousin who needs a place to stay after getting kicked out by his parents :3
Just so everything is clear. This happens in an alternate universe where season 8 happened a lot differently. Bobby is alive and well, Eddie and Chris never went to Texas, the whole Kim Marisol thing never happened and Buck lives with Eddie due to the loft disappearing or something. (Shh. Don’t read too much into it.)
Chris is 14.

But he's too scared, if he doesn't then that means Buck's truly lost any semblance of his false composure. He keeps his head straight, spends Athena's eulogy holding himself together with a thread so thin and frayed it's barely holding him up.
Buck finds himself sitting with Bobby's brother in the wake of the biggest loss of his life.
