He heard the crunch of leaves nearby, he spun around ready to defend himself. He was expecting a scraper or a burned one. He was not expecting Musa. She was covered in blood and stumbling on her feet. He knew the scrapers had gotten her and he was cursing himself out for not going back inside for her sooner.
She stumbled towards him mumbling softly, “Riv, please, make it stop.”
Then, she fainted.
