Summary
Nico never intended to be a reporter. They gossiped and speculated and spread rumours they had no business even thinking about. He liked some of them well enough, and he liked being able to cause a little chaos here and there by pointing out the shit that other reporters liked to gloss over. He never intended to retire from F1 alone, either, or that early into his career. It seemed like the right thing to do, at the time.
Lewis never intended to think about Nico this much, let alone on a race day. Then again, it's hard not to think about him when he's up in the commentary box showing pictures of the two of them as kids.

“We’ll win together, right?” he said after a long, long while.
Nico nodded, hearing his hair rustle over his pillowcase with the movement. It seemed unconscionably loud. “Of course, Lew. When we get to F1, we’ll be teammates, and we’ll win. Promise.”
“Promise,” Lewis repeated.
Nico didn’t know when he fell asleep, but he remembered the morning. He remembered waking up curled into Lewis like a sunflower towards the sun, and how it felt as natural as breathing to move a little closer and stave off the start of their day a little longer.

Neither of them saw anything inappropriate about it, even as little Honger grew from a small boy to a tall teenager, towering over his shizun. Sleeping in the same bed was just one of their many harmless habits Xie Lian didn't have the heart to deny his only disciple.
Even if Xie Lian himself had trouble sleeping because of it.
It all started a few weeks ago, when Xie Lian woke up at night because of his disciple, who was... poking at his thigh.
