Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”
—
Or: Adriana arrives in LA. Maddie has been here the whole time.

Summary
It’s not at all like a gunshot—and Buck would like to thank Dr. Miriam Copeland for the fact that he can think about that at all, much less think about it long enough to draw a comparison—but the way the sound cuts through the idle noise of the station is immediate in a way that brings the sound of a gunshot to his mind. Maybe it’s because the last time a sound came from somewhere beyond his left shoulder and heralded a life-changing realization, it was a gunshot.
Buck realizes three things, in this order:
First: That was a notification alert from Grindr.
Second: That notification alert came from Eddie’s phone.
Third: Eddie has Grindr? Apparently?
—
Eddie forgets to silence his phone; Buck throws himself on the figurative grenade.

Summary
And it’s probably the wrong thing to say, but Christopher is just— he’s so angry, he’s so angry and he wants to lash out at someone.
“I wish you and Dad had never even met!” With that, Christopher actually goes into his room, and Buck doesn’t stop him, or say anything.
He lays down on his bed, burying his face in his pillow, and finally lets out the rest of the tears he’d been holding back.

Summary
“May, I, uh, don’t know if- if they’ll get here in time. My jeep was pushed off the road, I’m hanging on by the guardrail mangled under the backend somehow.”
“You’re gonna be fine.” She said firmly. “You will, Bobby will be there soon and will get you out, Buck.”
“Always liked how optimistic you were.” Buck chuckled. “A lot like me. Hard to keep that optimism and hope for yourself, but able to share it with anyone and everyone around you. Because it’s more important that they stay happy and content then-”
“Stop.” May’s voice cracked. “Stop, please. You’re- you’re like my big brother, ok? And you’re getting out of this. You are.”
“Ok, May.” Buck sighed. “Can I ask a favor?”
“Yeah.” She agreed easily.
“Can- can you get Eddie? Just- there’s some things that need said. Just in case, ya know?”

Summary
Because for all the personal growth and maturity he had acquired during the past three years since starting at the 118, the ignored and abandoned child in him couldn't live with going through the same experience--the same pain--again.
And that was exactly how he was feeling.
Why couldn't they understand his side?
Why couldn't Bobby?
