Summary
When Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke grow closer as a trio, Sai begins to feel like nothing more than a replacement for their former bond. His insecurities worsen feeling more like a burden and feeling unwanted, contemplating leaving Team 7 for good. The moment Sai learns to understand love, he also discovers how deeply love can hurt. Watching Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke share moments of intimacy leaves Sai feeling like he’ll never truly belong with havig to steal affection. He begins to distance himself, thinking it’s better to suppress his new emotions than risk being hurt further.
