Summary
The Age of Heroes was a time shrouded in mystery, but the ancient tales of Westeros all share a commonality: the abundance of magic. In the millennia since, those powers have faded. Some claim they never existed, or that the coming of the Andals and their stone gods killed the spark. Still others look to the remnants of that age, of Wargs, Children, and giants; of dragons, and spell-forged steel. Yet now few truly remember what is possible with the warp of a mortal will: the Hammer of the Waters, the Fleshweaving of the Valyrians, the Greensight, the command of the Deep Ones, or conjuration of the elements. Magic faded from the world, like the passing of seasons, but seasons return, and the Bleeding Star represents only one thing: change.

Summary
The Children of Myth have grown, surmounting every challenge against them, reaching the summit of what was thought to be possible, and then spreading their wings to fly further. Now they look downward, through the remains of Oranous, and beneath the flesh of Gaea, beyond Erebus and The Underworld, and they march downward. One final quest, one final war, deep into the Abyss. And as the Children spill the ichor of their forefathers the Fates must wonder if the Fifth Age has finally reached its bloody end.
Less vaguely, this is the prelude of a PG-13/R-rated AU/retelling of the Riordanverse. Demigods are far stronger, monsters are far more numerous, and more time is spent with a lot more characters. Written in a third-person perspective like HOO, with this oneshot from the perspective of a very familiar antagonist. DO NOT READ THIS FIC IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED ALL OF THE RIORDANVERSE BOOKS (as of 3/2024). There are spoilers for HOO and beyond during this oneshot.
