“What are your feelings on the mutant threat?!” one of the reporters shouts, and Steve just looks at him.
“I think anyone threatening mutants should be stopped,” he says calmly, and the swarm of reporters explodes, a dozen camera flashes going off at once.

Summary
David’s funeral suit is the oldest piece of clothing he owns. Most of his other outfits have either been destroyed when the school was, or were cycled out as fashion changed. Not this one. This is well worn. Patched lovingly and set aside with the knowledge that one day he’d need to put it on again. One day he’d bury someone else he loved, because that was what it was to be a mutant. To love mutants.
The Young Avengers still aren’t accustomed to funerals. Their suits are still finely pressed, unstitched, unmended. They’re no strangers to death, that much is to be sure, but it isn’t a friend to them like it is with mutantkind and all those who once were… He’d never belittle them in that way, either. They’ve lost people, he knows, and he knows they’d mourned parents, siblings, and futures.

To be a child of Aphrodite is to lay in a pool of your own blood, broken and bruised by life beyond recognition and to say, "Well at least I'm pretty."
