Summary
“What is this, bring your kid to work day?” a deep, bored voice cuts through the ringing fear in his head. The three men turn towards the speaker immediately, their backs straightening, their whole demeanor shifting almost like soldiers standing at attention. And it’s not like Jason’s ever personally heard Two-Face talk before, but there’s something about this guy’s voice that just takes command of the whole space immediately, demanding consideration like the only natural and safe reaction to him speaking is to listen, and Jason’s pretty sure he knows who he’s going to see before he turns his head.

This looked like it would be something personal, custom that Gerard had commissioned while Frank had assumed that the topic had been forgotten between the years of tension.
“You know what it is?” Gerard prompts when the silence stretches on for far too long.
“Collar,” he says dumbly.

There’s no rush or urgency in the way that Gerard places his palm against Frank’s chest and pushes him away. There’s nothing angry, or violent about the action. It’s not a shove, and there’s no enraged screaming. It is simply what it is. A push. A light pressure to Frank’s sternum that forces him to take a single step back.
“We can’t get better together.”

Always a marvel, listening to him talk. It made her veins thrum, her palms itch. I did not hear your voice for eight years. For all she knew, he had no voice at all. And now here he was, word after word after word. A part of her wanted to revel in it, soak it up, like it was sunlight or water or something to stop her from starving.
