"Partners?" Clark suggests, his voice gentle as he brushes aside the hair falling across Bruce's forehead, making him feel all the more exposed.
Bruce's faint frown is unintentional, not the response he means to give.
Clark hums thoughtfully, tilting his head. "Lovers? Boyfriends? Husbands?" He tries again, and this time, his smile grows—just a fraction, but enough.

Bruce’s eyes dart away from him, and Clark thinks he sees a faint pink blush spread across those pale cheeks.
“I meant,” Bruce tries again. “I haven’t done this before.”
Clark blinks at him owlishly, taking in the different emphasis on the words. Bruce still refuses to look at him, blush growing more and more prominent by the second. And oh- oh.
“You haven’t had sex before,” Clark blurts out.
Bruce sighs and looks up at the ceiling, obviously embarrassed by Clark’s lack of finesse.

The closer Bruce gets, the worse Clark looks. Not injured; no cuts or bruises mar his perpetually smooth skin. But he seems… ill, his cheeks ruddy, eyes wide with blown pupils.
“It’s… This has happened before.”
“What has happened?” Bruce asks, catching on to the way Clark won’t meet his eyes.
Clark sighs, the sound edging into something more like a groan. “It’s hormonal. It’s normal for some Kryptonians, apparently. An evolved trait to encourage… reproduction.”
“Reproduction,” echoes Bruce, the word painting Clark’s symptoms in a new light. “Elaborate.”
