Summary
Natalie Scatoccio's life is going better than she ever could have expected. Years after being pulled out of her downward spiral by her very persistant friends she finds that she's somehow managed to be functioning adult. She's working consistently, is mostly sober, and is taking her role of aunt very seriously. The last thing she needs is for something, or someone, to come in and mess with her carefully balanced life. Someone like Shauna's college friend who's moving into town, Lottie Matthews, for example.
Or; Lottie moves to be near the rest of the gang with her newly adopted daughter. Handyman Nat gets volunteered to help fix up the old house that she bought.

Lottie's an audiovisual conservator / there's a haunted oral history collection / the tapes (ie: Natalie) shouldn't be talking back.

Summary
But after the initial bout of gossip died down and everyone got their kicks out about the resident center back and winger shacking up—"Offense on defense! Offense on defense!"—nobody cared that Lottie and Nat were sleeping together.
Old hat, tired dynamic. What they did behind closed doors just didn't matter.
Except when Lottie started using he/him pronouns for Nat. Because then—well, then the curtain shifted, and a peek slipped through. The team was certain: Lottie was in on something that the rest of them weren't. And whatever Lottie was in on must have to do with the fact that she was close to Nat.
But the thing—the very important thing—about this whole he/him business was this: Not even Nat knew what Lottie was in on.
// OR: The one where Nat has no idea why Lottie started referring to her with he/him pronouns.

Summary
Nat is lost in a descent of self-destruction. Lottie hypnotizes her, takes control of her, and guides her into quiet obedience and purpose. Through a layered dynamic of dominance and submission, Lottie gives Natalie structure and love. Their relationship ends up revealing a mutual need: Lottie’s for someone to care for and Natalie’s for someone to belong to.
I think this story ended up being so rich and layered so I hope you give it a shot. If you are here for the explicit tag only (I get it, I do that), these are the chapters: 6, 8, 11, 14-17, 20-21, 23, 25(strapthews)

Summary
“What are you scared of?” She pulls the bandage tighter.
A million true answers come. Her father. Flying. Isolation. What her pills do to her, what they stop her from doing. Herself. Her brain. What she might be truly capable of, what people might let her do, what they might do to her. If they knew.
Watching Natalie, touching Natalie, holding Natalie. Splitting herself open to someone she can’t lie to. To someone who understands. To someone who never can.
“A lot of things.” She says, her fingers twitching slightly as Nat ties the bandage off. “Mostly things I can’t control.”
***
Or, Lottie’s parents cancel a visit and she finds Nat bleeding on the side of the road. They clean each other up. And talk. And kiss. (They don’t talk about that part)
