With the unrelenting force of a sea current, Mr. Blanky not so much pushes as steers Thomas backwards, sweeps him up in his momentum and carries him along. Like a drifting ice floe given direction by a greater power Thomas mirrors Mr. Blanky's steps, the irregularity of what is happening thwarting any response other than compliance. A bulkhead meets his back. They stop.
Mr. Blanky, broad-shouldered and still, catches Thomas's gaze and holds it.
