And that left Peter an hour and a half to ponder his future. Should he say no to it, and work at a lower company? It would be less emotionally taxing on himself, but it would be worse on his resume. Plus, it wouldn’t look good for him to turn down such a huge opportunity. What would he say? Or should he just say yes?
It wasn’t like Mr. Stark was known for mingling around interns, or on the lower levels. Or… well, with any of his employees. He mostly just kept to his lab, and ever since having Morgan he split his time between the lakehouse and the tower. But even when he was at the tower he stayed on his floor. He wasn’t even CEO, Pepper was. So the chances of running into him were low. So incredibly low that it was simply almost impossible.

One year after the events of No Way Home, Peter is a college student trying to make his way thorugh life. But when one of his classes offers a placement at Stark Industries, he finds himself at a cross roads. It would look good on his resume, it would be good for his future, but how could he go back to Stark Tower after losing everything? When Mr. Stark won't even remember who he is.
But... as long as he avoids him, it'll all go fine, right?

“Clearly not!” He flails for emphasis, frustrated. He’s supposed to be a genius, so why can’t he figure this out? “This is a prank, right?”
She scowls at him, face hardening with her lack of amusement. “Don’t be an idiot.” Pepper straightens, clearly wanting no more than to be done with this whole conversation. “Maybe it was one of those college interns.”
He shakes his head fiercely. “No. This must be- shit, what are those called? Something effect... the effect of something...”

Tony Stark was not Spider-man’s biggest fan.
Something was unnerving about someone who never showed you their real face, even after you saved the world together, or provided him with an amazing suit. He didn’t even know the guy's name for Pete’s sake, he could be anyone under the mask. Especially since he rejected Tony’s offer to join the Avengers and yet, still constantly showed up to help out. It was like he just cared about sweeping in and saving the day, completely avoiding any and all of the responsibility aspect or paperwork part of it.
And then there was the ridiculously mess at the statue of liberty that no one, not even Stranger, could remotely figure out what happened. Spider-man was just too secretive, too slimy for Tony. He was more than happy to just sort of drop contact with him when he retired and let people like Strange deal with it. Especially after the guy just stopped using all of the tech Tony had painstakingly developed for him, in favor of apparently making his items. A little ungrateful if you asked Tony.
He was more than happy to cut Spider-man out of his life for good.
