Dean sets out to get to the bottom of the disappearance but strange things are happening and he can’t tell if it’s his demons or the purported monster in the lake that have come back to haunt him.
AKA a reverse Shape of Water AU with elements of body horror, monster fucking, and falling in love with someone without talking to them.

Castiel Novak knows a thing or two about faith healers and although Dean would normally never dream of dragging a civilian along on a case, he could really use Cas' expertise here. Besides, with Sammy off at Stanford and John barking orders at him from three states away, Dean is pretty fucking lonely. And Castiel, with his kind eyes and his uncanny ability to get under Dean's skin in all the best ways, fits into the Impala's passenger seat just right.
Until, of course, it all comes crashing down around them.
Now: It's been five years since Castiel last saw Dean, but when he gets a call in the middle of the night, he recognizes the voice on the other end of the line immediately. Dean is in trouble and he needs Castiel's help. And, well.
Castiel always comes when Dean calls.
