Tucking Naomi in was a soothing experience. The giggle she made when his whiskers tickled her cheek as he kissed her goodnight was a balm on his soul, and he thought he could listen to her snore for ages. He could almost forget what had happened earlier. Almost.
He exited the bedroom, and Samantha followed him to the door. Before he could leave, she stopped him in the hallway.
“Neelix,” She asked seriously. “What… what were you doing in the transporter room?”
Neelix mulled over his answer for a few moments. He considered lying, but Samantha was too smart for that. He sighed. “I think you know what I was doing.”
