Such a great what-if companion story to Old Gods. Elia Martell is a critically underused character and it’s delightful to read a story mostly from her point of view. I hope to see more in this ‘verse someday!

A beautiful piece of historical fiction. Anne Boylen is such an iconic, tragic figure and this re-imagining of her life explores not only her potential as a woman and a ruler, but also the shifting allegiances and scramble for power that made up the politics of fifteenth century Europe. I feel like I could read this story forever. Long live the Empress!

Wonderful and insane. The story of a girl trying desperately to be a hero when fate contrives against her at every opportunity. It also has the best romance genre example of a Beauty and the Beast love story I've ever read; the socially anxious healer beloved and coveted by all and the awkward girl with fourteen annoying roommates in her head. All of the Butchers are such fun and interesting characters with distinct personalities, and the narrative is able to juggle them all without feeling bloated. I love Taylor's sometimes antagonistic/sometimes friendly relationships with them. I'm so excited to see where this goes!
