   Summary

   After the JSSDF raid, after the blood and the broken, Shinji and Asuka are left behind—scarred, silent, and more alike than either would admit. Recovery is not healing, and living doesn’t feel like living. Langley tries his best to give them a new opportunity, to be the father his daughter deserved, to help the only boy who can understand her. The city is gone, NERV is a shell, and the only things left are pain, memory, and the small, fragile question of whether anything can be different from here.

   Asuka won the fight. Shinji saved her life. Neither of them feels like they survived.
