It’s been half a year since the arrival of the Firehawk Mission. Three months since the victory of the Fulmina Station Republic over the forces of Stationmaster Nikolay Rabinovich, who has since vanished into the black of the system’s less-explored regions.
And on top of this, it has been three months since the deaths of many in battle, such as Sergeant Leo Harding and Advisor Ross Wallis.
Commander Rustic Tanner of the Earth Interstellar Defense Force now leads his mission in securing diplomatic relations with the Bradbury Union. He, his copilot Smudge Mason, and their AI Princess are well on their way to instating a new era of peace around a star not their own.But centuries of war continue to tug at the seams of reason. Conflict remains too close for comfort, and the end of one war does not symbolize an end to all wars.

Summary
The year is 2973.
Colin "Rustic" Tanner and his family are dedicated military men of the Earth Interstellar Defense Force. Tanner comes from the little backwater town of Weir, on the Tharsis Plains of Mars. Having wanted to travel the stars ever since he was a little boy, Colin has finally proven himself worthy of his first reconnaissance mission.
He and his old academy classmate, Peter “Smudge” Mason, are pilots under the direct command of their Senior Pilot, Henry Claeys. Their prime directive? Reintegrate the system of Chell-2K3, which is 39.7 lightyears away, with the wider human population.
Little do they know, however, that this trip will have unexpected consequences.
