Summary
He and Kathryn reacted very differently to difficult days. Days like this made Chakotay feel like he would give anything to have the pressure of command taken away from him, they made him feel like he needed to be given something he could succeed at to remember his own worth, they made him feel like he needed all that responsibility to be taken away so that he could breathe again.
Kathryn was different, on days when Kathryn felt like she was in a spiral, when she felt certain that they were going to lose their ship and everyone on it, when survival seemed hinged on luck more than wit, when everything had gone wrong; on those days - these days -, Kathryn needed to feel like she was in control.

Summary
Being the only Starfleet captain in the Delta Quadrant was isolating, and Kathryn was a tactile person at the best of times. When Chakotay notices how touch starved she is becoming, he suggests a solution: they could spend some time cuddling a couple of nights a week.
It's completely platonic. Except, of course, it isn't.

Summary
“Chakotay,” she breathed again, the association no more logical than before but still somehow right, her rational mind powerless to challenge the conclusion her body had already made. That finally, finally, they were together.
