Hunter stays quiet, his shoulders stiffening, and Amity hastily rushes to amend her statement.
“You don’t have to. I was actually going to get camomile tea because Luz’s mom said it helps you get to sleep. I can make one for you too.” Amity cringes at herself, shuffling from side to side, and threads her hands together to keep them from fidgeting too much at her sides as her nerves start to become overwhelming. How do Luz and Willow make this look so easy?
“Everyone else is asleep. You don’t have to pretend to care, Blight. Go make yourself whatever it is you want to make and leave me alone.”
Amity blinks, stunned. Whatever she was expecting it wasn’t that. She knows they haven’t really interacted much since coming to the human realm, but they haven’t been at each other’s throats either.
“I’m not pretending to care.”

Amity wakes from a nightmare and runs into Hunter.

“But it should be about you!” Amity burst, not even bothering to process anything she said before it came out of her mouth. “He… Belos was going to hurt you if you came back empty-handed. It’s not your fault, Hunter.”

His shoulders relaxed, a wave of relief and pride washing over him. To Hunter, Flapjack was his best friend and true soulmate – quite literally. His feet felt light at her words, thankful for the confirmation that it was a mutual love between the two.
