Summary
He figures Ilya would be pretty surprised if he showed up to his house out of the blue. Surprised enough to be put off, probably. Shane is way too bad of a liar to think of any plausible excuse. If this is really happening, if Shane is actually by some miracle getting another shot at this, then he’s going to have to play this smart. His impatience to see Ilya again will have to be tempered. He’s not sure how time travel works, but he has the sneaking suspicion that one wrong move could unravel everything.
Ilya is alive.
Just the thought of it is enough to make Shane crack his first smile in a year.
--
AU in which Ilya dies in the Centaurs' plane crash. A year later, careless with grief, Shane drives his car into a blizzard and wakes up in Boston, in 2016. When faced with the opportunity to do it right this time, and keep Ilya for good, Shane knows that every decision he makes will be crucial. It's terrifying, but Ilya once told him that he's brave. Now it's up to Shane to prove it.

Bookmarker's Notes
Hayden has loved Shane Hollander for years, not romantically, not in ways that crossed lines, but in the steady, unshakeable way best friends do. Shane was there for the life Hayden built with Jackie, there when everything fell apart, and there afterward, when grief made even breathing feel like work.
Ilya Rozanov has always been part of that orbit too: Shane’s husband, sharp-tongued and observant, loving in ways that are louder and fiercer than Hayden ever expected to need. Where Shane offers quiet constancy, Ilya offers insistence, on joy, on honesty, on not disappearing into loss.
What begins as shared responsibility, school pickups, late nights, standing in kitchens that still remember Jackie, becomes something more fragile and more deliberate. No one is trying to replace what Hayden lost. Jackie’s love remains woven into their lives, into the children they are raising together. But grief shifts, and the space it leaves behind makes room for something new.
Together, Shane, Ilya, and Hayden learn that love can expand without erasing the past. That family can be chosen, reshaped, and rebuilt. And that sometimes the deepest connections are the ones that have been there all along waiting to be named.

Summary
You shouldn’t get really, really shit faced drunk the night you win ‘rookie of the year’ in Vegas.
You also shouldn’t marry your arch-rival that same night, just sayin’.

Shane sighed with relief as the doors of the elevator closed. Whoever was in the hall probably didn’t see him. He would figure out how to move past the humiliation of sending that text message to Ilya. But first, he needed to get back to the safety of his hotel room.
“That was close,” Shane murmured to himself and slumped against the wall.
The doors of the elevator opened again.
Shane straightened at the sight of Ilya Rozanov, wearing nothing but an unbuttoned pair of slacks, his golden chain, and a phone in his hand.
[OR Ilya realized he made a mistake letting Shane go after their hookup in Vegas. As he's rushing to find Shane, he receives a text message from Shane that reads: We didn’t even kiss.]
