"Varian," Rapunzel started, gesturing to him as a whole, "You've made... a lot of mistakes. You've done things that have hurt lots of people in the past. But everyone has made mistakes, good people and bad people alike. So, I'm going to ask you one thing. Do you think you're a good person?"
Varian blinked roughly, confusion slowly warping his expression. That was not what he'd been expecting to hear. At all.
"No." He said bluntly, his eyes finding their way back to the ground. There wasn't a kinder way to word it—Varian was a master of destruction. He was capable of gruesome and terrible things. No good person had the power or willingness to commit the crimes he had.
Rapunzel just smiled hopefully at him—the same smile she gave him when they were locked in a cell together.
"Do you want to be?"

Summary
The princess has returned from her journey to the Dark Kingdom, but rumors have it that the quest was not as successful as everyone would have liked. Varian hears little of what is going on from his lone prison cell. Then one day, the red rocks burst through the walls, and Varian takes the opportunity to escape.
Rapunzel struggles to solve the problems of the black rocks. When the red rocks suddenly become an issue, she remembers the young alchemist who used to be her friend and realizes he may be able to help. But by the time she goes to look for him, he has already fled and Rapunzel must figure out how to get him back.
Eugene realizes that with Corona in unprecedented danger, it's time for him to step up.
Meanwhile, Cassandra's just trying to find her destiny, which hopefully doesn't involve creating red rocks everywhere she goes.
