Buck's eyes widened in surprise and Eddie swore he heard his breath hitch.
"Thanks." Buck mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck as blush crept in. "But I should go- Class and all that. Uh, enjoy. Or don't. I gotta go."
Eddie watched him leave, standing in the same spot he'd first seen Buck and left with more questions than answers.

"You okay?" Eddie asked, noticing Buck had gone still.
"All good," Buck cleared his throat, his voice dropping into that soft, domestic register he only used here. "I’m just… I’m spending all this time making this perfect. Choosing the exact right shade of green. But one day... they’re going to be ten, and they’ll want posters of bands on the walls. Or they’ll be seventeen and moving out, and we’ll have to paint over this forest with a neutral beige to sell the house or turn it into a guest room.”
Eddie squeezed him tighter, grounding him. "Hey. If we have to paint over it, it means we did our job. It means they grew up happy and strong. That’s the goal, right? To let them outgrow us?"
Working on his baby's nursery, Omega Buck reflected on his relationship with nesting over the years.
