It was late at night, the station almost in a dead silence, no calls today, it really was a slow day, but no one dared to say it in fear of jinxing it and having to do actual work. Peter, the new recruit still in probation, had suggested they play a game, seven minutes in heaven.

    or

Beatty and Montag play seven minutes in heaven.

“God, what a pulse! I've got you going, have I, Montag.” Beatty was almost glowing, so proud of himself. The other firemen were staring, the game of cards forgotten and put down. Faber was talking non-stop in Montag’s earpiece, urging him to calm down and not listen to Beatty but how could he not? “Everyone out, I want to have a private talk with Montag, our game can wait.” Beatty looked at his firemen sternly.
“You were quoting so many books I thought… A friend told me about book people and I thought, well, you looked how I thought one of those would look like… captain?”

Beatty was, a long time ago, a book person, Montag wants to read him.

Montag looked at this man—his superior, his Captain, God’s sake—with, for possibly the first time, not a speck of wool over his eyes. Beatty stood in his black kerosene slicker jacket pushed far back on his shoulders because he liked to show off his chest, fists tight without anger, his stubble framing a scowl utterly offset by his eyes. His eyes were fire.
