Summary
I attribute/blame this fic on covid and a fifth re-read of HellBells Tony’s Little Black Book series of series, but most especially the following passage (from Tony’s Little Black Book: Shades of Grey, chp 22):
“You know how you stop a monster?” Gibbs spoke softly, remembering having a similar conversation with Shannon during his darkest moments.
“How?” Tony asked because if he’d figured that out then he might have been able to deal with everything so much easier.
“You love them.”
It's a rare pair if you can't find it four pages deep in a google search, right?

This is insanely good, but alas, the wip appears abandoned. Still, I don't regret reading it.
Vance sends Tony on a "Rabbit Run" mission, thereby giving Tony the ultimate angsty roller coaster ride. Complicating matters is the CIA operative whose story intersects with Tony's, an operative whose handler is Trent Kort.
I love the spycraft in this fic and its inclusion of the War on Terror. Fascinating read. I do wish she'd kept going.
