Summary
After Aslaug's funeral, Ragnar is strained to reconcile with his sons: Hvitserk, Ubbe, Sigurd, and Ivar. This is a bond that has been frayed for many years between the alpha and his children. Ivar, in particular, is the most volatile of the brothers and feels overwhelmed by it all. Grief for his mother joins, his struggles as an unpresented, status-less pup add fuel his unpredictability and leave him increasingly antsy.
But it is really the arrival of dominant alpha Heahmund that complicates things. Heahmund’s presence ignites emotions in Ivar that he isn’t prepared to confront, feelings of both being drawn to and infuriated in turn.
