Scar has never been this cold. Not in the desert. It wasn’t right. Grian had enough heat to spare for both of them, and it was too much. All of Scar’s kinetic energy had found its way under Grian’s skin in tremors, leaving Scar’s body completely still. He knew he shouldn’t ask- he wouldn’t get the answer he wanted- but the words swelled between the blood on his tongue and fell out of his bruised and cracking lips.
“Scar?”
Scar did not answer.
Two times where Scar and Grian are forced to mourn alone, and the one time they aren't.

Then, belatedly, the boy seemed to register him properly, and his expression shifted in real-time. From stunned to sheepish to horrified. His eyes widened, and colour bloomed in his cheeks in a way that made Tom’s mouth twitch with something dangerously close to amusement.
“I—I’m so sorry,” the young man stammered, scrambling to his feet, one glove torn and slick with snow. “I wasn’t looking—shit, I didn’t mean to—your drink, I’ll replace it—!”
He reached out instinctively, hand grasping Tom’s to steady himself as he stood. Tom let him.

There is one constant at Hogwarts: One new Defence Teacher every term. Everyone knew it. They also learned to keep their expectations low.
James wasn't sure how the new teacher was able to destroy even the lowest of expectations, but here they were.
Professor Young (or in full: Professor Flynn Ulrich Clayton Kendrick Young) was an idiot who went undefeated. So how was it possible that he still learned from him?Or
Harry has no idea how he ended up in the past and managed to become the DADA teacher at Hogwarts, but he knows one thing for sure: He won’t be one of Dumbledore's pawns, and he won't be pulled into the bubbling war, if that means he has to play the idiot, so be it. He had enough incompetent teachers to know how to play the role.

Summary
In the haze of the summer, Harry can hear the magpies chirping.
Is it before or after it happens that they stop? He can't quite remember. It's a weird mixture of relief and horror, what he feels in the moment.
He always told Dumbledore that something bad would happen if he went back to the Dursley's.
