Victory was in sight. Soon, Skynet would be permanently deactivated and humanity would finally be rid of the machine threat once and for all.
But right at the cusp of victory, Skynet pulled out its final trump card and activated the highly experimental time displacement device that was housed deep within the bowels of the facility.
The plan: assassinate the resistance leader's mother before she could give birth to the leader of the resistance, thereby crushing it before it could ever form.
The method: a powerful Infiltrator unit capable of withstanding any potential firepower that could be brought against it.

It's no secret that Wednesday Addams does not emote and has difficulty interpreting other people's emotional states. In fact, most simply believe she's incapable of feeling emotions at all.
Those people are only half right.
Turns out, there's a rather important reason Wednesday has so much trouble with emotions: until three weeks ago, she didn't have any. It wasn't in her programming.

Summary
One day, Chloe is digging through some boxes of stuff and comes across some of her father's old military things. She knew he had served, though he didn't talk about it much, and she never really asked when he was alive. Feeling melancholic, she takes the stuff upstairs to her room and starts going through everything, this piece of her father she never really knew about.
It's when she comes across his dog tags that she pauses. Her father's blood type on the tags... Something's wrong. She knows hers and her mother's blood types thanks to Max being a nosy little shit a while back, and after reviewing information on the American Red Cross website, discovers that her own blood type isn't technically possible with William and Joyce as her parents.
So, what gives?

In this AU, each member of the Vortex Club pays a monthly membership fee, which pays for that individual's food, booze, and "party favors" the following month. Any amount that isn't used rolls over to the subsequent month. This means that anyone who is mindful about their expenditures could expect their money to last quite a bit. The problem is, it was ridiculously easy for people to burn through their monthly allowance and not realize it. After all, it's a party! Who actually spends time counting pennies at a party? And so, at the end of the month, when the membership fees are due, members have to pay off their debt as well. Anyone who couldn't afford to, however, would find themselves working off their debt in a very... involved fashion.
(This is a euphemism for sex.)

Summary
Soulmarks were considered both, a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because, in the blink of an eye, the new-found bearer would find themselves elevated in the eyes of society. They were obviously more than the Markless, those individuals who the gods had deigned to ignore, so of course they deserved better. Better food, better jobs, better pay, better everything. A curse, because the moment it was discovered, a person who had managed to fight tooth and nail to make a comfortable life for themselves in the outer realms could be torn from said life and get thrust into the unknown, whether they liked it or not.
Something she had discovered the hard way.
(Or, a slightly different take on the idea of soulmates than I've used in my works in the past.)

In a world where everyone is a Dom or a sub, Max is depressed, repressed, and more than a little confused. She's come to Blackwell Academy to study under the famed Mark Jefferson and further her photography dreams but now has to deal with a growing attraction to her childhood friend (who should hate her), her childhood friend's girlfriend (who should also hate her), her dorm neighbor (who does hate her), her new musically-inclined Christian friend (who couldn't hate anyone but just give it time) and kinda sorta maybe most everyone else on her floor? Max has never been good at actually dealing with her feelings, though, and keeps bottling them up, hoping they'll just go away. How much longer can things continue like this before they come to a head?
Hint: not long at all.

In canon, prior to the events of the game, Kate Marsh had attended a party where she was drugged, kidnapped by Nathan, assaulted, then dumped back in her room. The resulting humiliation from the viral video taken of her at the party, coupled with all the bullying she suffered before, drove her to attempt suicide. Depending on several factors, Max can either successfully rescue Kate, and escort her from the roof so she can recover, or she could fail, and Kate would die.
But, what if Kate wasn't the one who went to the party? What if Max attended instead? How would events have changed?
