Emily, moved by Charlie’s argument and disturbed by Heaven’s dependence on extermination, publicly sides with her, forcing Adam to confront the fact that someone he considered innocent and obedient has chosen to question him.

    This is my kind of alter version of the courtroom scene, focused mainly on Adam's debate with Charlie and the aftermath.
