Jace looked at his mother, wondering if she would tell at least him the truth. Luke was too clueless, and perhaps it was for the best that he did not know just yet, but she could not ignore her oldest son. He felt like an accomplice because he had seen them — not quite together but not really apart.

"That’s the plan. Get to it," Alicent repeated once more. Harsher. Keeping her eyes leveled and with no intention of letting the power slip through her hands. She was still the one in control here, no matter what Rhaenyra was doing to her body.
Neither dared to break the eye contact, Rhaenyra was practically vibrating with determination and attitude, but it was easy to see through this loud exterior and view her motivations for what they really were.
Acts of service.
It wasn’t about conquering Alicent, it was about proving Rhaenyra’s own worth to her.
