Spending all day every day in a pod is not recommended. There are dangers to prolonged time spent in the link and any Avatar driver would tell you not to do it, that if you ignored the signs, you'd really regret it. Theoretically, Jake knows that. Does he heed those warnings? Well...
Or: Neytiri seeks out Jake in his human body because his Avatar isn't waking up at Hometree and she is very worried (but can't quite admit that out loud). She finds out something about Jake that she had never expected and that she still feels a certain way about him even in his human body.
