Summary
Merlin has been alive for a very long time.
He is not losing it... But he is on a very meditative journey to become one with a blade of grass when he suddenly wakes up in the sixth century, surrounded by friends he only sort of remembers and a king who isn't a king yet.
In other words: My version of a Merlin travels back fix it fic starting in the missing year between seasons 3 and 4.

Summary
Merlin has magic,” Uther’s words hit Merlin like a ton of bricks, the spirit disappearing as if it was never there.
Merlin closes his eyes, letting out the breath he’s been holding. He feels his back hit the door behind him, holding himself up against it. He doesn’t look at Arthur, just waits.
One breath, two breath, three breath. Nothing.
Merlin opens his eyes, looking up, half expecting Arthur to have disappeared to alert the guards. Arthur is staring at him, he is stock skill, breath coming out ragged and uneven. He looks crushed and not just from expelling his father’s spirit but that must also have contributed to it.
“Arthur,” Merlin tries, swallowing when his voice shakes with the anticipation of Arthur’s reaction.
“Is it true?” Arthur asks, his voice quiet but stern, he still holds the horn tightly in his grip by his side, his knuckles white with the force.
“Arthur I-“
“Yes or no, Merlin,” Arthur interrupts, voice suddenly louder in the empty corridor, he looks Merlin in the eye while he nods wordlessly before looking away, “you-you do. You would betray me? You?”

Summary
The Ealdor Public Library, where Merlin works as a librarian, is struggling amidst budget cuts and declining patron visits. As a last ditch effort, Library Manager Gaius calls in a favour from his friend Uther Pendragon, CEO of Camelot's top consulting firm, The Pendragon Group.
Uther sends his son Arthur to lead the project in Ealdor and work closely with Merlin. The two have a rocky start, but as they spend more time together they come to understand that they might just be perfect for each other after all.
---“I’m taking these sweatpants,” Merlin declared, admiring himself in the standing mirror in Arthur’s bedroom. Arthur stepped up behind him, hands resting on Merlin’s hips, and pressed a kiss behind Merlin’s ear that sent a shiver down Merlin’s body.
He can take and keep whatever he wants, Arthur thought, watching the two of them in the mirror, perfectly slotted together. He’s already taken my heart.
